Balloon Art: Design Journal 2

Tweaks here, tweaks there, tweaks everywhere!

The gameplay for Balloon Art has been settled, and at the time of me writing this, I’ve already given out dozens (dozens!) of free demos of Balloon Art at PAX West.

When’s this sucker coming out?

The game launches Sept 22 on itch.io as a print and play only game. I feel like this is the best way to experience Balloon Art, that way you get a digital PDF to download and print as many copies as you like.

The game will launch with a bundle for $3.00 that gives you five categories of doodles: Animals, Cryptids, Paranormal, Travel, and Furniture. You can also buy one category for $1.00.

Buying the $3.00 bundle will also give you access to new categories of the game that I plan on releasing in the future without having to pay additional costs. (I have 3 new categories planned, with potentially more on the way.)

Anything changing from now to release?

Since the last design journal on Balloon Art, I’ve made a few tweaks to the game. The flair is a points multiplier, instead of something additive. I made this change so you could go for more difficult flairs in smaller balloons for wild amounts of points. Due to this, I’ve also changed the points required for higher degrees of end game success.

I’ve also made some minor tweaks to language based on playtester feedback (thanks all).

But from now until the 22nd, I plan on finalizing the request tables for each category and putting finishing touches on the art.
